My thoughts on the 2500

Dope machine.
I fuk wit the fact that 8 outs come standard
The hard drive is a plus
4 midi outs dope


But is it just me or does this machine not feel "Solid"
It realy reminds me of the 1k.
Whats up with the green display?!
The data wheel is garbage too.
Like I know its a step up from the XL but
I realy preferr my XL over the 2500 anyday.

I can't really compare it to an XL as i haven't used one yet.

Will do soon as my mate's got one but until then...

Totally agree on the data wheel, the clickyness feels cheap to me, should be less clunky.

And it does seem to rattle a little bit somewhere when you bang the pads but i would still definitely say it's a solid machine. Can't see anything breaking on it any time soon.

Thing is, i think that now i'm getting used to the 2500 i'd never be able to step down (or sideways, whatever) to an XL.

The ease of connectivity, USB, HDD, CD tray, CF cards etc is so much more compatible and from what i hear it performs a lot of the tasks quicker too. I like the 128mb RAM too, let's me load up a bunch of stuff at the same time and i archive all my vinyl records via the MPC now, gives it a more punchy sound compared to running it straight to the PC.

But it's probably down to what you're used too

Does the XL have the same size screen? I wanted to put one of the white screens in mine, the green is a bit shyt

That Data Wheel sucks ballsh, you're right. I wish it was intelligent enough to be incremental... so that when you move it slowly it moves slowly and then when you whip it round it moves through the data quickerer. But the actual feel of it gets worse ea time I use the facker.

I think the MPC doensn't feel very solid because it aint. I've had it about 2 months and had to reformat and reinstall OS about 4 times. Had to do countless factory resets and now the Left Main Out port seems to have blown. Taking it back soon... to get it repaired because I love it so much.

the 2500s screen is about an inch wider than the XL

I can agree with you about that data wheel

but I think the 2500 feels 10 times better than my XL

damn, i was gonna sell my xl and save up for the 2500 but i'm kinda glad i decided not to.. i'm just upgrading my 2000xl instead so i'll have the card reader, 8 outs, effects.. then i'm gonna do a custom paint job on it and shyt..
i tried out the 2500 at guitar center and it felt kinda stiff to me- the data wheel, the buttons.. plus it doesn't have the simultaneous feature, so f*ck it. maybe i'll get one in the future if they fix the os/lower price, not countin on it tho.

it does have the simult. feature

in fact you can assign up to 4 sounds on one pad as opposed to 2 like the XL

^from what i recall, it was different from the simultaneous feature because you couldn't filter, set the attack/decay on each sound layer differently.. it was just one pad with a few kicks loaded into it, instead of kicks on seperate pads, each with their own filter/envelope.. am i wrong?

i think he's talking about triggering multiple pads by hitting one pad.... not assigning multiple sounds to one pad

nah ur not wrong I didnt interpret ur question correctly

I like the display.. Its easier on my eyes compared to the 4000. Although, I wish it had a data wheel like the 4000!
