The MPC has MTC(MIDI TIME CONTROL) which can be used in about the same way if i aint mistaken cause u can slave devices to the MPC and control the playback, stop, on the mpc. Correct me if im wrong.

actually, the mpc2500 has midi clock, not midi time code.
midi clock contains tempo information. midi time code is a solid frame rate, no tempo. for locking recorders, video decks, pro tools.
midi time code is much tighter than midi clock. maybe someday...

Thanks for clearing that up. But see the MPC2000 i have has MTC, SMPTE, and MIDI Clock. So I figured the 2500 also had MTC. Hmm.

U talkin about the 2500 correct? But on my 2k i use MIDI Clock with my Roland VS-2000 so MTC really isnt much use to me.

MMC can do a few things that both MTC and Midi Clock can't. It is a handy tool that was unfortunately left off the MPC2500 but put on the MPD24.
Why?
Cause akai probably wanted to sell their excess 2000xl stock. Leave some features off the 2500 to make some still choose the 2000xl. e.g. Auto Chromatic tuning.
Recently I have been wondering how much more the 2500 is capable of and what will happen with the OS once the 4000 is discontinued.

I never had any doubt that Akai would release an update that included MTC and MMC.

Wonder if they'll inlcude MMC and MTC on the 1000?
Or just leave it with midi clock?

Since the 1000 and 2500 share practically the same OS....it would seem that they could/may easily add this function. But I think all the 12 y/o that purchased the MPC 1000s wouldn't miss these functions if they were never included
