Still buggy with OS 1.10??

I sold my MPC2000 (old technology, old storage media, time for a new one) and I am seriously considering getting the MPC2500 brand new. But I've been reading up on it and hearing about LOTS of bugs and pops on it...I'm just wondering how the newest os 1.10 has fixed these and if now it is a pretty complete machine. I'm used to the MPC2000 and I just want a RELIABLE and DURABLE new mpc for my studio. I want to use the 4 MIDI OUTs and I guess there were problems with them but are supposed to be fixed in the new os...also I'm curious on the build-quality of the unit...it would be used with care in a smoke-free studio and I always take good care of my gear so this would last a few years just like my MPC2000 did? Or would it? I LOVE the idea of 4 controllers, the 4 MIDI outs, resampling WHILE triggering synths, and the capabilities of the new os in the future but I just want to make sure I should pick this one instead of the MPC2000XL or something...does the new os fix most of the MPC2500 problems for those of you who use it?? And USB is not important for me...all hardware studio with me...thanks!!

Get the 2500, you wont be disappointed. All the bugs will be fixed in a future OS update. Dont worry about the small shyt.

I'm a 2kxl owner and I've been having thoughs about switching eventually, but for the moment I would go with the 4000 from what I've read. 2500 is lacking to many of the functions I'm using today and suffering from bugs so I would choose the 4000.

Of course v1.1 still isn't the FINAL OS that they're releasing. Inevitably, they should be able to fix ALL of the bugs and come out with a flawless operating system.............. at which point they'll probably release a 2500XL and make everybody trade their "old" 2500s for it. Then you guys will be complaining about that OS until they release a new model. And so the circle of life continues......

If you take proper care of it, I'd say it will last forever. Pads, knobs, buttons and sliders are actually the same as on the 2000XL. Only the Data Wheel is in my opinion a better architecture than the 2000XL's, which tends to skip values after a long time of using it. I doubt this will happen with the 2500 wheel.

Maybe you'll make a few scratches on the case over the years, that's all.

whats with the whole 'smoke free' environment? does smoking inside a studio or home studio really take away from the life of the equipment? should i step outside when i burn one, for my baby mpc's sake?

I don't think smoke will harm your MPC..but after years of smoking around your gear..it makes them stink something awful....Its next to impossible to get rid of the smell.

in the case of the 2500, which has air vents in the casing, smoke particles can enter the case and settle on the chips inside. this forms an effective heat barrier, and can cause heat to build up. the same can be said of dust, i think it's worthwhile opening up your machines once or twice a year and giving them a good hoover.

and what about these POPS I'm hearing about...caused from using the USB cable? I'm running it completely hardware so I was just wondering if I'd still have them...that seems like a REAL dealbreaker right there...I don't want pops all over my recordings...what's the deal??

It's not yet confirmed what really causes them...some have them, some don't, some have then more often, some only once, like me. Can't say for sure if you'd ever experience them as well...

had mine for two months, never had the pops.
