MPC 2500 as first MPC__good idea or bad?

I'm a pretty computer/technolgy literate person and I played with a 1000 and pretty much figured it out. Do you think I should get a 1000 for my first MPC or go for the 2500. I just want something that I will be happy with and will last me for a while. I'm kind of afraid if I buy the 1000, I will end up wanting more. But maybe I don't even need all the 2500 has to offer. I just make underground hip hop.

What do you guys think?

Read up on the features of each one and all the OS updates that have been made. Figure out for YOU, which one has what you will need. Get it!

Having a few extras around is fine, who knows you might come to need those extras later on. If you got the loot get the one with more features.

Get a 2500 and be done with it. Get the manual, read it "carefully" cause if you come back with something basic that's in there already I'm clowning you. And possible many other members will too.

Like chopshop cannot be used on stereo samples. That's in the book. Ya feel? Maybe with a OS update it will be possible, I don't know.

What are you using it for - your main sequencer? Do you have hardware that you want to plug in to it?

I would seriously think about what it is you are expecting from the MPC and then go in to a shop and have a play. Tell the shop assistant what you require from an MPC and they will probably over sell you the 4000 or something!!!

Seriously, it depends what you are planning to do with it. I know underG hipp hopp, but do you have PC / Apple with software u wanna access etc...

Once you have decided what you are going to running, check the comparison charts.

Personally I rex the 2500 (once the bugs r ironed out soon) is a better machine for a mid size studio whereas the 1000 is slightly less of a machine and would be better suited to the beginner. Dare I say it.

2500 is my first mpc i love it easy to use and learn i've used 1000's and this is fur shure wurth the doe!

To dablunt, I plan on using it as my main sequencer and all. I essentially want to have a Numark PT01 record player and an MPC. That's it. Maybe use Reason to throw in some bass, but other than that, vinyl and an MPC. So i'm thinking the 2500 is where it's at...

ok, so i have this stereo sample, and when i want to use chop shop, it won't let me, what up with that? is my mpc fukt? fuk akai man, that can't make shyt that works properly. i haven't got a manual, but i started reading the post about the 2500 but gave up because 2 pages is hella lot to read.

2 pages of stuff aint bad at all. If cats want the info then they will have to dig for it, point blank, lol.

Yeah, the 2500 manual say no stereo samples pg. 69 Note : You cannot use the ChopShop function on a stereo sample. If you use a stereo sample, only the left channel is used. But, who knows, Akai might make it stereo with an update, maybe not. Cats gotta start storming Akai with requests and maybe it can happen cause bytchin about it here isn't helping. Cats gotta take it upon themselves to be the solution and not the problem/bystander.

Do like Lamp said and just get the 2500. I did (as my first MPC) and so far I am happy with it.
