Just ventilation to let hot air get out and cooler air get in. Stops the circuits frying

The 1000 runs on a single 9 volt battery. It doesn't generate much heat.

i think it runs slower/ more efficiently than the others, so it doesn't need the ventilation slots, although, it does get hot, akai obviously think it doesn't get hot enough to cause damage.

i think there's been a thread about this, it's called something like 'what's the longest you've left your 1k on?' and i seem to recall that some people left theirs on all the time. in the computing world it actually does circuits less harm to leave them on all the time, as the continual heating and cooling caused by turning the machine on and off can damage computer circuitry over time. but i think you can get away with leaving it on all day. try it and see, if you have any problems, reduce the time that you're using it. if the worst comes to the worst you could always drill some holes in the bugger!

Hell naw...do not leave your MPC on. The LCD screens do not last forever and they are costly to replace. Trust me on this one.....

ah well there you go, a bona fide reason not to keep your mpc on when you're not using it!

Shit... I used to leave my 2000xl on allll the time. For like a week at a time sometimes.

That thing was a beast.

The pixels in the LCDs burnout over time and can cost $200 plus to replace the screens. Anyone who is suggesting that people should keep their MPCs on is mos def not a person you should take advice from....
