correct way to save your track ??

hi everybody im new to the mpc ...just made a beat and now its time to save it
ive read i some post about it and read the manual but i just want to know for shure what the correct way is to save my sequence and my samples (after they where edited ) in one spot
so i can open in one time the next time and continue working on it

You wont get much response from peps here if you don't at least try and do a bit of leg work first.

yeah i read those but theres to much people saying ( no try this . try this ) thing is i dont wanna make a mistake with this one i just wanna knw THE WAY so any body?

Location: Uk Mids bruv, try this method if u dont wanna lost anything, i havent lost anything in weeks, everytime you save, create a new folder in say a beats folder on your root, i date the folder so for today 060506 then save eveythn in there, turn off, come back 2morra, and make a new folder thatl be 070506 then wen im done save everythin in there, then i got a back catalogue, so if somethin did die i always keep 3 days worth behind the one im on, and delete the oldest one as i create a new one. that way nothin gets messed up.

I only save one project file per folder. I have never lost anything. But I will give newmp's saving method a try to see if I can produce the same problems.....

ive been doing this for the past couple days and have not lost anything. seems to be a good method.

aight thanks for the advice guys i just wanted to know for shure cause i want to save something right now i ll be trying that out peace !!

The problem just seems to be that the MPC doesnt recognize when you try to re-write the same .ALL or .SEQ file.


So, it looks like that method above may be the simplest way around it. You can always go back and delete the original files and then rename the final version to whatever you wanted it to be originally (at least, I would think so...).



Kind of a pain, but what can ya do.

guys whut me again i saved the track (al seqs and songs) in a saperate folder and turned the mpc on and of loaded the file again only thing is now i only have the samples but i cant find the sequence itself
so when i press play nothing hapens what im i doing wrong??

if you say 'replace same files' it will. you gotta tell it to do it, tho. (unlike the 4000, which did it automatically)

no is it me? but when create a new folder to save a certain sequence and the program that goes with the sequence,once i press enter after i name the folder,the mpc seems to freeze.

just to make sure,am i suppose to save my sequences as .mid files or .seq,cause the whole "wrong file" thing just happened to me again! a program and sequence i been loading for 3 days now,and all of the sudden i get wrong file urrrggghhhh.

yo thats something else with me ...after saving i keep my sounds they are there with al th edits i made but the beat itself is gone man

the sequence what i wanna know is where can i find the sequence after i saved it???

you are a victim of the infamous new folder/wrong file bug. I think they are somehow related but not sure. Did you recently transfer via USB? I'm trying to figure out what causes this coz its a b!tch fo sho.
