I am a 2000xl user gone 2500. I have had my machine for about two months. However I have a bundle of beats on my 2000xl (Zip Disks) that are not tracked out. Is there any way to tanfer my files into my 2500? Or am I just screwed?

what I did was buy a usb zip drive for about $50

like this one:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00005 ... e&n=172282

you can hit ebay or search around for a better price

The mpc2500 can read those files u just need to get the files on your computer so they can be transfered over to the mpc2500. Depending on whether or not u have a floppy drive, zip drive, or card reader will determine if u need another source for transfering from XL to computer.

Nice link!

Too bad it only supports Mac 8x thru 9x OS. That's the downfall with a all mac set up. You have to have one pc in your studio-now a days-to get by.

its kinda obvious that his computer doesnt have a zip drive or he wouldnt be asking that particular question, knowing that the 2500 has usb and can be connected to a computer

the only way to get those files from the 2000xl Zip disk is to:

A) have a zip drive on his computer
B) borrow a friends
C) buy a external zip

its not really a downfall, they make that same zip drive for PCs as well

Did u read what i wrote? What part of what i wrote made u say its obvious his computer doesnt have a zip drive. How do u know he didnt know u could do it that way? So um i still think im correct in saying what i said. I also mention more media than zip drive.

You cant just assume he knows so thats why i answered that way even Ajax sees where im coming from.

Also go back and read what he wrote. He said he has his beats on a zip disk. Ok so if he has them on zip disk why didnt he just buy a zip drive for his computer? Answer that

My reason is maybe he doesnt know it can be transfered like that so technically i stand right.

Yo, thanx for the help yall. I think I'll go the zip drive way but I have another question. This may be a stupid question but..Do I need to get a special kind of usb zip drive? It seems the zip drives I see online have the flat part of the usb connection to hook up to your machine and the 2500 offers the square end.

...and for the record I dont have a zip drive for my computer. I just have a power book.

the square end of the usb cable is a 'b' connector which is for slave devices such as the mpc 2500. usually things like zip drives would use that type of connector too. the flat type connector goes into the computer. just like with your mpc 2500.

yup just make sure that you get the correct zip drive as in 100mb or 250 or whatever your disks are

if most of your disks are 250s get the 250 because the lower numbers will also work in it

Just to put this straight...you cannot connect the USB Zip drive to the MPC2500.

You'll have to copy your ZIP disks to the PC, then to your MPC.

Ohhh, OK. So you can't hook up a zip drive to your 2500. That makes sense. It's week but it makes sense. So with no computer you couldn't transfer you music. Do the files load on to the computer as wav files, or do you have to change them?
