SOLO/MUTE fuction problems

I contacted Akai about the MPC's Solo function (used w/external MIDI sound modules) not working properly when the Stop/mute long samples is turned to: IMMEDIATE.

The MUTE function will not work on external MIDI instrument track if Stop/mute long samples is turned to: IMMEDIATE or Continuous sample track is turned to the track in question.


The response I received is that both should work fine.



Gentleman, please verify this problem on your 2500s and report back.

report no.1: i use the mpc with a korg m1. they are connected via midi and the sound of the m1 goes to the mpc record in (direct, no mixer used). so i use the input trough feature to hear the korg.
if i turn the oneshot setting in the other page to immediate the mpc acts weird: the solo button on the main page mutes the track currently active. if i mute tracks in the mute screen only mpc programs mute correct, tracks on the korg are still audible, but with a thinner somewhat chopped sound (melodies are still recognizable). if i use the solo function in the mute screen it soloes the right track, but again the other midi tracks are not muted right.
if i turn one shot to through all is fine.
if i turn continous sample track on on one of my midi channels, this particular track will not mute correct, but in this setting all the other tracks are fine.

heres some info from my end regarding this issue

I have continuos sample track OFF

and mute/stop set to immediate

I still hear data from my external Module even though the track is muted
(this effects tracks that you mute as well)

I switch to through

and I don't hear anything from the module.

Extacly the same here, but with Virus B. This is definitely an issue.

Akai has confirmed this problem (Solo/Mute). Hopefully it will be addressed in the next update or so.

same problem here... dam, just when u thought everthing was good. doesnt akai check these things before shipping out? hmmm...

I believe Akai will continue to miss something until they let actual MPC users beta test the OS....but wait...I guess that is what we are here for

this feature is one of the reasons that lured me into buying the machine. its a beautiful thing when all your sounds immediately stop when u hit stop....no more waiting for your long samples to play out...even though i would just continue to play over them...but that can give u a headache after a while. anyways... akai, please fix this a.s.a.p.

I'm having the same problem right now

the thing is most of my tracks will mute except for the first one I have layed down

this song i'm doing, i've got about 13 tracks, the main track..the first one..has the main sample in it..and the rest are added on things, kicks snares etc....

when I turn on the track mute settings and switch to the track mute window, and start to record..I hear everything as it should be....except when I playback I can always hear the first track whenever I mute it.

I was wondering what the hell was going on, so I did a little test..I restarted my unit and started the beat all over from scratch but this time I only used that main sample which I had assigned to the first track

this time I try recording the mute and the same thing happens

what happens if you hit the next bar button?

It would be nice if they would hurry and fix this issue i mean Daamn. How long does it take to fix a problem like this?

Damn it, theres a work around for nearly everything Ant. But the manual says it should work without you having to hit the next button. So he shouldnt have to hit Next.

Same problem here. It seems to be the first track that won't record the mutes right?

Or is it midi notes that it won't mute. In my case I had something recorded in 12 levels(mpc 500 loaded to 2500) and we all know that when you turn the 12 level or 16 level function off the event data(pads you played) is recorded as if the 12 level or 16 level button was still on.Does the mpc read these recorded events as midi data or drum data?

What I am getting at is if the data from the 16 levels function is not recorded as midi data why am I having the problem with the mutes not recording?

Can someone bang something out real quick in 16 levels(track1) then turn off 16 levels and try to record some track mute data. My T.C is set to off.

Am I doing something wrong here?
