MPC 2500 - Should I? or Not?

Im no newbie, infact im a long timer on these forums since 2002 (re registered as my old register was messed up).

I currently use a 4000 Plus and my 2000 XL MCD, and used to own a 1000 as well (but returned it due to early bug issues)

Some of you may know i always knock the 2500, and say its not built well, bla bla bla, but i wanna give it a chance.

But i have some store credit left for around £800 and need to spend it.

I have to ask you guys what you think so far?

Any old timers using the 2500 from other mpcs, what do you guys think?

Timing - is it tight or loose? You know what i mean.


I appreciate any feedback.

If you already have the 4000, I would think that you could find better ways to spend that money.

The thing is my 4k is a beast, but its sometimes over kill to turn on to make simple beats on. The XL is faultless as well, but can be a little slow to work with, especially the small numeric buttons and the one filter.

OK im making excuses, but still the 2500 could be a nice gap filler for me, and may even replace my XL if its good enough in terms of timing, swing, etc.

BTW, i heard the 2500's Earlier and Later function has been moved from the TC menu, is this true?

Where is the feature to be found, and is it just as easy?

I think you should pass on the 2500 and keep using the MPCs you already have.

Buy something else.

Pick up a Moog synth or upgrade your computer DAW or AD/DA converters or.........

I already have loads of synths, and a nice RME A-D-A.

Not shure, one side of me says get it, another says im being greedy.

I have to use the credit, and the store is very limited, and happen deal with some Numark dj gear, so they can get an mpc on order. Its a live instrument shop.

I bought a wireless mic system, but returned it. Now have a £800 credit.

If its great, i dont mind selling my trusty XL (plenty of buyers out there).

Well why not rid one of your MPCs and then cop that one or if u just feel u need them all then i say go for it. Seems to me u have everything u need. Need ne new recording stuff?

You could buy me a 2500 instead because I dont have any mpc's yet because im kinda poor atm. I would name my child after you in return.
