sync issue?

i use my 2500 with protools and i've been syncing using midi beat clock. i've noticed on all the beats i tracked out since the upgrade to OS 1.2 (including a couple i did on 1.21) the mpc stuff is falling BEFORE the downbeat. it's doing this consistently throughout the songs, on different joints at different tempos. has anyone else noticed anything like this?

ok so is anyone on here using the mpc2500 with protools?

are there any sync issues? if you quantize a kick drum does it fall before the 1 on protools?

yes I've had that same issue

thats why I've been 2 tracking my beats lately and doing track mutes on the fly

I've noticed its always a little off whether it be a tad early or late

sometimes its not even noticeable in the audio but if compared visually its off

hope it gets tightened up with future OS systems

Are you saying the MPC 2500 has timing issues as a stand alone, or when in sync with external?

I still havnt got around using mine, i caught a bad bug / infection.

This sounds like the issue I'm having with Logic when using Midi Clock, Logic as master, MPC 2500 as slave. When I record to a track a hit will play at the beginning of the count in bar, then what would naturally be the next hit is the next hit to play in the first recorded bit of the track. Subsequently, sequences recorded appear 'early' rather than being late by whatever number of milliseconds my latency is (32ms for recording). I went back to 1.1 to see if I could recreate this and I couldn't, so it's definitely an issue introduced with 1.2 (and still occurs with 1.2.1).

For the life of me I couldn't get MTC working at all despite following the MPC and Logic's manuals to the letter, so I wonder what they've fuxxored up there.

yeah i've heard the hit on the one thing as well. not sure what that's about. and i've also only had this sync issue since 1.2. but with me the entire sequence is playing fine but it's all landing before the grid in pro-tools. so whenever i put the cursor to the beginning of a bar and hit play i always notice that the kick drum and/or whatever else is playing on that beat is missing the attack. and when i zoom in on the waveforms they're all early, consistently throughout the entire song.

That's the one, exactly the same for me when i zoom in. Curiously enough I'm using a motu interface too (828mk2) - time to rtfm on the motu methinks.

I'm having the ssame problem with the Timing glitches. You can hear it real good is you listen to 16note hats.

yes. use the JJ OS. solves the problem. akai to this day has not dealt with this issue.

With JJ OS, is it possible to record multiple takes and NOT have them phase?

is that possible with ANY midi gear?

I don't know, doesn't seem so. Anyway, I gave it up. Now i record to reaper slaving the MPC to midi clock and then chop by bars. It works just fine.
