Kik layering in Zone Mode

On my 3000 I would layer Kiks in seconds and could make them bang out the speakers..........but I'm finding it a bit of a nightmare in this because of the following.

On the 3000

1. Start with a deep 808 for the Low on Pad 1 (Use envelope and take the front off) This stops the layered kik's Phasing

2. Add a mid round kik with some weight.

3. Add a Front punchy kik and use a tight envelope just 4 the front.


Perfect Kik.

Now on the 2500 the zonning don't allow u to play with envelopes ....It effects all the zones and if u merge some kik's together the start phasing unless u can envelope the front off.............but this can't b done cause of the way the zonning works. (Simu mode would b the shit)


The 2500 does sound great but layering is a nightmare.

mmm....can't you change the envelope for each layer in Program Mode? I thought you could...no need to mess with Zones.

That feature would be the lick man!!!!!

On what mpc?? not the 2500 or I m missin somthing here!

if you place the cursor on level in program mode and hit the window button you can have a different envelope for each layer. -but- there are only two envelopes for each of the 32 voices the mpc 2500 can play simultainiously, so you have to watch your overall usage of envelopes.
maybe resample your layered kiks to save voices...

please correct me if i´m wrong on this, since i couldn´t look it up on my machine, because it´s at another place right now...

u cant use diffrent filters per layer......thats what this machien neeeeeeeeeeds bad!

I don't quite understand what you mean...two envelopes per voice? I only see one (level) envelope per sample/voice. And I assume they can all be in effect at once?

And as far as "Akairep"'s problem is concerned, that does do the job. If you have to "shift" one sample with respect to the others, you'll have to do that in Trim mode anyway, with or without simult.

Yhea well that's a great feature!! I'm on the 4k though and as advanced as the sample engine is us 4k users still have only one amp envelope per pad-layer, we can though use a keygroup program and layer 32 sounds /each layer with its indipendant filters envelopes mods fx settings ect... time consuming though compared how simple it was on the old buggers...

the workaround on your 25oo however would be to use each kick on an idependent pad and play them together to make up your layerd kick, if you need it more simple resample and layer the resampled kicks on one pad...

he means 1 filter per layer I think....that would be the best ....1 filter per layer thats all I ask of
