Phantom Power 48volt

Hi,
I was wondering does anyone know what happens to the MPC 2500 in case the individual outputs get "Phantom Power" from a mixingdesk.
Not that I want to test it but in case this happens is this verry bad for the machine? Or is there a kind of secure system that can deal with this?

Can't seem top find anything about this when I search for it.

The real question would be why is the MPC plugged into a mic level input on the mixer in the first place???

The answer would be, a young monitormixer/stagehand that by coïncidence or just because he thinks it works that way, puts phantompower on the XLR snakeblock that is on stage.

See if you use the individual directouts/Ballanced to XLR & go directly in to the desk, it wouldn't be the first time that the Phantompower was or is still on just because normally it goes to a passive DI box wich needs phantom.


So still my question is,
Does anyone know if this is the case( phantompower on MPC) that it causes damage to the machine.

it would send a electricalcharge to an output that isn't made to recieve a charge so I'd say YES you can blow your indiv. output of even fry the motherboard of your 2500. Only one way to find out......try it and see what happens then let us know so we won't do it.

I am not really sure...but my best guess is that it will do the same thing as any other synth, keyboard, sound module, samplers, etc when subjected to the same chores.

Not too much although I wouldn't recommend this type of connection.

The MPC1000/MPC2500 STEREO OUT's are protected to some degree from this kind of behaviour for short periods of time.

If the MPC1000/MPC2500 STEREO OUT's are exposed to phantom power for any great length of time then they will stop delivering sound.

Disconnection of the line supplying phantom power and power cycling the MPC1000/MPC2500 will fix the problem.

Connection to a source that doesn't supply phantom power will stop the problem happening again.

Now ... as for the MPC1000/MPC2500 INDIV OUTPUT's ... Can't think why they would be any lesser in spec to the STEREO OUT's.
