Confused on MPC 2500

Hey everyone!

Im kinda confused!

I have a 80gb hard drive in my MPC2500...

So i load up some samples and programs from it and after a while the MPC gets full.
Do i have to use the MPC's RAM? Cant i use the hard drive?

Also, when i load the sequence it wants me to seperately load up the programs used in that sequence to get the sounds up.
Is that normal? Sometimes it even says it cant find that sounds i put in those programs!?

Hard drive is for storage only. If you dont have the maxed out memory dont expect to load a bunch of shit. You need to upgrade to 128mb if u havent already done so. Just cause u got that 80 gig hard drive is not gonna make your MPC load more sounds if u only have 16mb of RAM installed.

i find this funny

i too have an 80 gig hard drive and yes you can only load up to the RAM you have on your MPC (so 128 for me) the hard drive really is just for storage.

you will need to start saving things as a project if you want to be able to load everything at once, a sequence is a very small file and contains only the pad information (ie when to play a certain pad) and not the sound. so you could in fact have a completely different program loaded and play the original sequence and it would then play the corresponding pads and sound very wierd.
This is where making a drum kit to a formula (ie kicks on the bottom row, snares on the second row, hats third etc) can become very handy as you can make a drum sequence then lay it over different kits and quickly have different sounding drums

I still get by on 16 megs!....................if your fresh you can make funky shit with 2 megs!
