First MP EVER!!

What was your first MPC, how long ago did you get it, what ones have you owned since then?

I just got my first one, its the 2500 obviously, and i love it.

Im gettin used to mixing in it and im figureing out the tricks to saving and the routine to get it up and running.

Theres a few more thngs that i need to lears as far as the basic basic's go, but im on my way.

Eventually id like a 4000 once i know what the hell im doing and the 2500's options arnt as new and exciting to me.

I have dreamed about having a MPC since i was like 16, and 6 years later i actually h ave one

congrats on your accomplishment! it's a great investment, and it will provide you with hours and hours and hours and hours of fun... just don't eat/drink too close to it, remember to search before you ask/post, and just do what sounds good to you... happy beatmaking!

what can you do with the mpc2500 along with the mpc500 that you can't do with the mpc2500 on it's own?



i actually started with the 2000xl back in 2001 and over the years switched out its floppy drive for a pc card drive, and also had a 4.5 gig external harddrive hooked up to it. loved that thing. still have it in fact, though i think i should sell it because i'm not using it.

over the last few months though, i was buying tons and tons of records while drooling over the 2500, but never actually buying it. one day i went into guitar center and was asking them about it, and said, "alright, i'm buyin it". i maxed out the ram, bought a 100gig hard drive on newegg that day which came 2 days later, and after a little over a month i finally got the dvd rom just today.

i figured, with my record collection growing, i'm going to be making more and more beats, and i need something more reliable than SCSI to save them. The PC USB compatibily upgrades were pretty much what did it for me. Well, that and recordable track mutes, the effects (i had the memory maxed on the 2000xl as well as the 8 outs, but no effects), the filters, re-sampling, direct recording, mute groups... there's a lot of stuff that it does that the 2000xl doesn't.

plus, the fact that it was black helped a lot too. i was always considering sending my 2000xl to forat.

2500 about a year.

The 500 is portable, so instead of unhooking everything from my 2500 and dragging that big heavy thing with me, I just transfer what I need via CF and I'm out the door!!!

I take it to my buddies house, he has a 2000XL we sync midi and have a good ol'' time!!1

Plus it runs on batteries.

I'm assuming you're height challanged or inferior cuz my 2500 fits in a laptop bag and easly carried with one hand.

Never assume.......The problem I have is I don't like unhooking my gear from my permanent setup. I have 6 midi cables, USB, individual outputs, TT, and regular outputs all this running to and from my 2500. After a while it becomes a hassle to keep pluging and unpluging all this just to take an MPC with me when I can take a much lighter,portable version that's ready on the spot.
