Post your views and questions about the Akai MPC2500

just wanted to know if any1 had the akai s2000 ,, because in my town they got 2 for sale for under $100. my ? is would it be worth it i ,know it samples but i here that it hard to use, i know it is classic and does it have sounds in it already cause thats what i heard. dont know all the facts about it just wanted some input yo lampdog you seem to know alot of the old school equipment ........also it so cheap i dont know if i should pass it up

Its not bad for extra sampling. Sound quality is similar to 2k-3k, if not the same.

The S2000 has that nice 'cyclic' time stretch that you hear on a lot of older drum and bass ('Pressin On' by Hidden Agenda has a few really nice examples of this sort of sound). I think the S-Series up to the 3200 use the same time stretch algorithm, so any of them are worth picking up. I've been thinking of getting a 3200XL myself to complement the 2500.

The S2000 is a nice piece for sure. It's simple to use and sounds super good. It has the same sample engine as the MPC2000.
