i sample in nothing less than surround sound, but do what works for you.

if the sample is stereo, and you want to keep it as stereo, then sample it stereo. otherwise mono is fine.

Depends on how the instruments are panned in the original recording. You may sample something that has a flute and it's panned hard right with the drums on the left, in this case I would sample in mono unless you want the flute panned hard right in your recording. :D

Using the same example, say you want just the flute that I mentioned above with no drums and not panned to the right. Unplug your left channel or pan it hard right(if possible) then sample in mono ......Just thought I'd throw that in there. :D
