4GB FLASH CARD CHECK IT OUT!!!

I dont know if someone done this b4 but this is what i did. I just got my 2500 today and I have some broken ipod mini's lying around well i opened one and removed the drive out. I poped it in the flashcard reader of my 2500 and was able to format it and save to it. I coneected the the 2500 to my mac via usb and low and behold it shows it having 3.81GB. WOW!! I have 3 more of these ipods mini lying around boy am i glad I save them (the batteries wore out)

Has anyone ever done this?
Can someone try this with the 1000, 500,2000?

A' what kind of drives are in the old Ipods....I got a 20 gig joint. It should have a hard drive right? If it's a 2.5, it's going in my 1000 off the break.

Seems unwise to me.
People are already claiming to have file issues, haven't seen them but many say they have.
The specs say max size for CF is 2G, so what is the potential problem with using a 4G?

Can't argue with that, makes good sense to me.

If you are using it for the 2500 or 1000 it is only going to recognize 2 gigs of the 4gig card and thats it. So dont waste your money. Thats how the o.s. was designed it only formats up to 2 gig. But a 4gig cf is wicked to bad we cant use all of it.

Use a (battery dead) ipod mini take it apart and remove the drive, this is not a flash card its a micro drive. when i put it in the mpc2500 and hit the usb option it shows on the deskstop as 3.81gb I want to say the mpc recgonized it also as being 3888mb or something like that but i did noticed the letters at the end were mb and not k. im thinking the mpc treats it like a hard drive(micro drive) and thats why you can use more than 2gb

I have just discovered the greatest low cost accessory for the mpc2500
Im sure you can find someone with an ipod mini who will sell it for $50 or less especialy if its dead due to the battery
