Top Row Pads seem a little loose!!!

Hey guys,

I just wanted to find out if anyone else has noticed the top 4 pads (13-16) being slightly loose, and make a kind of Tappy / Clicky sound. This is when the machine is off or on.

Its mainly on the upper part of the top row pads. When pad 13, 14, 15, 16 are hit, it makes a click type sound. However if you press down on the metal parts that surrounds the pads, the pad noise goes away.

I would return it for a repair...

yea mine do that too but it doesn't affect anything at all..it only doe that when i press on the very top edge of the pad

my mpc does a little rattling when i hit the pads, but this is because i have no cd-drive installed and so the metal plate is missing one screw...
fixed this by stuffing some cardboard under the rattling part ´till i finally get the cd-drive...

nope - mine are soft to the touch

Mine does the exact same thing.
It really doesn't affect anything so I wouldn't worry about it.

yep mine do the same shit in the top row of pads at the top corners.......



its because the way akai decided to place their pads.....when I opened the machien....the pads do not align properly with the hole in the machien where the little rubber part of that pads is sposta fit into.....

BTW this is my 3rd swap on a 2500. Each unit had the same pad issue. But like you guys say, it doesnt affect the performance of the machine. It still bangs

I have even noticed a paint job change on each unit...WTF.

The finish on the pad surroundings on my 3rd unit is shiny black, whereas my last 2 units had a matt finish with a slight subtle grain. What happened to consisitency? But im happy with the gloss on mine (other than odd marks that show up), so lucky me.

My pads are fne. The MPC 2500 has a thin plate on the underside of the unit. It will rattles if you hit the pads hard enough....I have a hard drive and CDR installed..and it still does the same thing. They should made the bottom more solid...like previous MPCs. Usually, if I can hear my MPC rattling...I am banging on it too hard..

Jahrome and Upright - if you dont mind, can you let me know the last 3 digits of your serial number. I have a 975, after a 950 and 970.

my top pads click a little bit too, but only if i hit the top quarter of them. if i hit them in the middle of the pad, they're fine.

You should hear my 60 and 60II . Bang Clang Brrrang. I have tried tightening the screws inside and out but they still make noise. I would just live with it if it does not seem like it is damaging the MPC. My 2000XL used to make noise, then I tightened up but it only stopped after I had all of the expansion options installed. My 1000 has no noise and my 3000 barely rattles but just a bit. I was looking at getting a 2500 as well. You guys say pretty dope?
