mpc 2500 with korg triton!!!

i just got an mpc 2500. i have been using a triton for about 4 years. if i hook them up toghter, i can use the mpc as the master and the triton as a slave. can i still play my triton to record in the seq? or do i have to play the triton sounds via the mpc?

Its funny that you posted this i have a triton studio that i intended to hook up to the mpc for sequencing. ive had the triton for a few years and the mpc 2500 for around 6months. I tried to connect the two when i first got the mpc but it didnt work out i later found out it was because the 1st generation of triton studios had an issue with weak midi send and receive, ive since had that corrected but havent done any work with them together. i really like the sequencing for drums on the mpc 10x better than on the triton but i havent sequenced any other intruments so im hoping to see another post from you on how well they work together later

you guys have two powerful units to combine for a heck of a setup!. I have the same setup..... I jus have the advanced Extreme, and I still haven't tapped into what this powerful keyboard can do. You can use the MPC to do all your sequenceing and drums,which you would get a better deal out of using the mp for drums and samples anyway. I use my triton just for module and patch usesed ,and now I'm going to play around with learning more about it's sequenceing. I've been told that slaving the triton's sequence with any other Sequencer device doesn't do real well,but it's good to know as I'm reminded by fellow MP user's Lampdog! So if you want to learn more about Midi Technique's in useing the MP+Triton jus let me know.

I have the 2500 and the Extreme. MPC is the master. I use the sounds from the Triton and do all the sequencing in the 2500. The dopest set up. You really dont need much else but a multitrack recorder, I use Pro Tools at home and I have the Roland 2480 at the other studio. With the right plug ins you cant go wrong.

yeah, i am going to set this up tomorrow! cant wait. so, i also have protools 002....how should i go about hooking all three up? it would be dope if i could sequence everything together....
for example, if i had a drum beat with some samples on the mpc....then i had some things on my triton ready to go....could i lay down live bass on protools before i bounce the rest to protools? this is a hard question to ask.

also, when i hook up the triton to my mpc, what mode should i be in on the triton? seq? prog?

You can connect it all up together yes. Youll need a MIDI IN and OUT on you computer tho.

MIDI conns. Using the MPC as master seq.

Triton out > MPC In
MPC out > Triton In
MPC out > PC (mac?)
PC out > MPC in


With the Triton Seq mode you can utilitise the 16 channels of sound. Where as in Prog mode you can only use that 1 particular program. But you can utilise the Combi's like this, 1 at a time... unless in seq mode.
