Flipping through sound module patches with the mp?

Whenever i use midi, ill use the mpc to flip thru patches on the module. When I find a hot patch ill play some notes on the mp's pads. Then i will go to an empty track to add some notes from another of the modules patches. However when i flip thru the patches on the empty track, it changes the sound on the prevoius track. Could anyone tell me what im doing wrong? All help is appreciated

What sound module are you using?

First, make sure that you assign a different MIDI channel to each MPC track. Next, put the sound module in performance or multi-mode.

i think thats probaly it cuz ive had everything on 1a. i;m using the roland jv-1080 and emu vintage keys plus

Having everything on 1A will give you the problems you are having. You really should brush up on MIDI by reading through the manuals of your gear.

it can be a benefit as well bonkas. cause you can then have 2 or more instruments triggered from the one track.

Sorry to jack the thread on ya but how do you browse through the patches on the sound module using the MPC.? THanx

i didnt realize this could be done until the video of needlez making a beat on youtube. U basically go from midi in of ya module to midi out A,B, etc. of the mpc. Go down to bottom of track screen and change the track as needed for midi. Then highlight program and flip the jog wheel til it says program no. 1. Then keep turning jog wheel. the mp will allow u to flip through up to 128 patches. And when u look at the module you'll notice that whenver u flip the mpc's jog wheel to another program, it will change the patch on ya module. To me its such a great way to work, I can't believe Im just now seeing the light.

Thanx a million, I saw that video and just thought "naa the MPC cant do that " Does it only work with the first 128 patches or can you select an area ie guitars or pianos instead of jst doin through the first 128 over n over. Thnx again

You have to use the MPCs MSB/LSB settings. Each sound module will respond to different settings. Check your sound module's manual.
