Un-Necessary Wear on the Pads? Looking for opinions.

I'm on the verge on picking up a 2500. I've owned a couple of 2000s, and a 3000 over the years. I'm MPC-less at the moment and was looking at the 2500. I'm re-thinking the purchase because the pads double for functions I'd constantly use (sample record, mode switch, etc). What's the word? Am I over thinking this? Does this bother anyone using the 2500?

I would rather have buttons like the older MPCs...but having the pads double for other functions is a good thing. The pads are more durable that the bittons on the MPC. Also, you don't need to bang on the pads to get to other menus...just hit the MODE KEY and the pad which corresponds to the menu you want to enter. Now...who really knows how longe the mode button will last. This is the one that will take most of the abuse.

for sure. my mode key is mashed.. dropped it off to get fixed thursday las week, still waitn to get ma mp bak. cant wait for that shit.. u know it woulda been dope if the mode button was the same type of button that the play and stop and tap tempo are. nice and fat and solid, that woulda been hella betta

I got a 2500 not long ago and i was wondering How long on average do pads last??? How much does it cost to get them repaired and where do you send your mpc to get fixed??

The Pads on MPCs are one of the last things to go (with the exception of the 1000). I have seen MPCs put through hell and the pads were still functional. I wouldn't worry about the pads if you take good care of your MPC.

VST service will quickly repair your MPC should you need service in the USA.

yeah man my mate bought his 1000 the same time as i bought my 2500 november last yr and pad 1 on his 1k has already stop'd workin. fuc that shit .. i aint worried bout my pads at all tho... 25k yall

I've had the 2.5k for almost a year, no problem with the pads. Just look at it as if you were recording, or triming a sample will a couple more hits on the pad realy hurt them. Just don't trigger your pad with a hammer.
