choppin' samples on jj's OS.

I'm using the JJ operating system, and when I chop samples, I get that screen that displays Extract F2 SLICED SAMPLES or F3 PATCHED PHRASES. I'm cool with that, but when I select to slice the phrases, the next screen displays CONVERT TO SLICED SAMPLES. RELEASE:10. This parameter I can change, but what is the purpose of it? I've went from 10-100 changing the parameters, and I don't hear any purpose for this option..
