Can't load samples with alot of characters

I just got a dvd with samples,I copied them in my hard drive and when I am trying to load a sample,I get a Wrong file error.This happens to every sample from these folders.The sampes are WAV's.I had that issue before,and I fixed it by shortering the name length of the samples and folders.Is there any other way around fixing this?Or do I have to rename 4000 samples manually?

You'll have to rename them. Blame Microsoft for it since AFAIK any drives are FAT32 formatted which limits you to 8+3 (eg mysample.wav) or something similar.

Damn.Do you know if a folder containing more folders and then the samples can cause that problem too?

No FAT32 doesn't do that, your wrong.

It's the difference between os's, ie. windows and mpc, that don't get along past 8 characters ONLY when transferring between mpc and windows. So you should keep your filenames down to 8 characters or less when transferring any file to an mpc.

Check what format the HD is in your 2500.

I renamed every sample.Now i dont get the wrong file error,it looks like i can load the samples but then they dont show up in trim mode.This sucks

Actually i still get the wrong file error.I picked up a random sample from this dvd,ranamed it and copied it to the mpc.That gives me the error too.

EDIT:The dvd's samples are 24-bit.Can this be causing the problem?

Yep.

Atleast now i know what is causing the problem.Now i need to find a program that converts 24 bit to 16 bit.Do you know a prog that will do that?And ofcourse i'd like it to convert all of my samples at once,not each one separately(we are talking about 4000 samples).
