Are you happy with the Akai OS

I am curious to know which forum members use the Akai OS for their MPC 2500 and what issues (if any) do you currently have?

can you make an option for those of us who enjoy it but are equally fustrated at times?

the only issues I've had at times have to do with track mutes, and these weird volume changes during playback (not automation). Other than that I enjoy it alot!

That's what the second option is for and to post your comments in this thread. I didn't want non-MPC 2500 users to dominate the thread. Also, if you have any issues, go ahead and post them. Some one might have a solution or a work around...

I use and am happy with the Akai OS. It definetly can use upgrades though. All the features of the previous MPC's, fixed bugs, things that have been touched on before. I'm fine with it.

seriously, these bugs arent a massive issue, but still frustrating at times. i dont got no hard drive installed tho, so i aint been havin savin issues like sum have. also, i have experienced thses bugs with my own 25k as wel as a brand new one that i lent from th store.

1. at times ill press record in the record sample page and all of a sudden it takes me too track mute or the mixer page.

2. sumtimes when in trim mode and u press shift key and go to hold down one of the left or right cursors, zoom window pops up.

3. when still in trim mode, and i go to press shift again sumtimes the main screen pops back up

4. when recording in grid edit, as u pass to the last bar of the screen, all the vertical lines disapear ( which r the bars) - not a bigyh but stil

5. just remembered another, when i record something with my q-link sliders, like a pan or a tune pitch or level, it always records fine. but then when i play it bak it wigs out and goes all funny, like say i wanted the pan to go right, itll go right then itll quickly jump bak to the left and then as quickly as it jumped to the right, itll jump bak again. this is with all sliders as well as the nobs

6. jus rememberd that when in record in mode, when u press mode and then record again for some reason the signal cuts out. i only stumbled on this when i accidently pressed it twice.

7. ok, rememberd a few more, when im recording a sequence and then i finish recordin, so i press overdub, the beat keeps playing right. then when i go to change the sequence from sequence 1 to sequence 2, it wont let me. i have to stop the beat 1st and then start it again, then i am able to change from sequence to sequence.

8. this one really tix me off, and it is on anf off., say ive just recorded my kick drum down on track 1. i play it back and every kick is where i put it except for the last one/note. this happens with whatever sound im am using, snare, or hihat etc. i go into grid edit, whcih says the note is there, but i jus cant hear it. so i change to sequence 2, whether it is blank or being used, and then press play for sequence 2 and then stop it, change bak to sequence 1, play it bak, and my last note is ther now, i mean i can actually hear it. this is a wierd one

i just wanna know when the new one comes out...i mean it's been since like September and there is still a bug when you try and save to a hard drive and it crashes when trying to make a new folder. i mean they release their Little Tikes MPC 500 before they fix a bug that causes you to loose everything when you try and save!:shock: How frustrating is that? And now there is rumor that Akai is releasing another MPC soon. Hopefully the people working on the 2500 OS have nothing to do with these other MPC's cause if they do that would be really gay if they were causing a delay on the new OS release. My hope is that they are perfecting the new OS so that it is bug free when they release it.

On the whole i have found it to be ok, but i still get the issues that jimblah had posted as well as the random pops/crackling of the outputs every now and then. But i do think it is about time for a new OS

i use it but they need to fix the sync issues with midi beat clock. the mpc plays early when locked to protools, etc. using beat clock.

ive neva had this problem that sound asleep is havn and i record into protoolz all the time

i think all the bugs are more annoying than anything. If akai never releases another OS...i can live with the bugs.

Still using Akai OS . I have pretty much worked out workarounds for any of the problems that reoccure or just avoid them all together. I have had lots of screen jumps from the trim and save windows . Some folder issues , saving to the wrong folder and over writing of random files . Wrong file errors is still a problem that needs addressing . A frequent bug that is reoccuring is after a first save of a new seq. when going back to the main screen some of the programs are not assigned to the correct track. I've noticed if you fix it and save agian then reload the file it fiixes it . I have also stopped saving files to the internal harddrive because thats where the WrongFile errors were happening for me. I spent the money on it and can only use it for sample storage... aarrggh. Would like sample layer with independent filters so I can get rid of my 2000xl, before they are not worth anything, another price drop recently. I could think of a slew of other stuff I would have liked for the price of the unit but I'm Pretty happy with the unit overall. I do enjoy the quick load and saving times and quick workflow.

mad quick workflow, mpc is the only thing ive found that can actually keep up with me at my pace

I wish they could at least tell us a time frame when they expect to release the next OS.
