Problems with MPC2500 PADS wearing out or breaking?

I am leaning towards buying a 1000 but the one thing I dont like hearing is how the pads die and get worn out.

The 2500 when i played wit it at the store seemed to be built equally as cheaply as the 1000 but has anyone had similar problems as reported wit the 1k where the pads die or get work out?

Not me. Why not get a 2000XL then.....?

2500's pads are not built the same as the 1000, at least that's what I heard....no problems here.

the 1000's build quality is definitely cheaper than the 2500.

The 2500's are pretty solid. As long as you buy new, you shouldn't have anything worry about because of warranty.

yeah.. i have had this almost a year now.. and it's in great shape.. i think it depends on user.. just don't have to use so much force .. and i have 3 year warranty so i have nothing to worry about.. and even if you don't have warranty, i don't think the pads cost so much, if you have to buy new pads every 2 or 3 years..

Pads wont wear out on the 2500 like the 1000. Go cop one.

Yeah, the rubber pad itself doesn't cost much...but that's the last thing that will break on an MPC. If the underlying sensor sheet **** up, you can be sure to spend a lot more. But it's right, the 2500 pads are nothing close to the 1000's, they are built like the 2000XL's pads. Don't worry.

The 2500 pads are better than the 1000, but the 2000XL pads are the best of all three. The 2500 pads are not the same as the XL, go compare...much different. The 2500 pad shape is slightly rounded on the corners...not so on the 2000xl. Plus the XL pads are more bouncy and solid, and do not rattle the unit when played.

A rattling of the case is not a pad issue.

I have both here, a 2500 and a 2000XL, along with some black and grey replacement pads from VST. For me, they all look the same, and feel the same. Except that the 2000XL original pads are a little darker. And I can't make out a "rounded corner" on any...

But not to start any fight here....it's probably as much a question of personal opinion than the better groove of the 3000...

Definitely a personal opinion thing. I like the whole feel (physically) of the 2000xl over the 2500 by far. The wheel, pads, knobs, and buttons all feel better to me. I just wish the 2000xl screen would tilt a bit more.

I need the USB

I use the usb on the 2500 as infrequently as possible. It's great to be able to dump a bunch of stuff to your hard drive but I save all my tracks to a compact flash card as well because it's a lot faster to back them up (usb 2.0 reader over the MPC's usb 1.1 port). The last time I backed up 20GB from the drive over the MPC's usb port it took about 8 hours..... Another reason to have a few MPCs

I did not say or mean to say that the 2500 rattle is a pad issue

What i meant to say was that when you hit certain pads on the 2500, it vibrates the bottom plate causing it to 'rattle'. This is not the case on my XL.

I have also found that my 2500 (after being swapped 3 times) still has this bottom plate rattle thingy going on, but only when you play the pads . The 1st unit i had did not have this problem, but it had a faulty data wheel, and so on.

Next to my 4000, the XL is very well built imo. The 2500 wins over the XL for the tighter jacks on the rear, they don't wobble like the XL's.

Man...forget it all, lets just make music.
