MPC2500 HELP

Hello Mpc Forums

I have just brought a akai mpc2500 Yesterday.
I have a few problems and i wondered if someone could help me out please?

1) Once i make a beat on there can i save it on the computer if i have it connected with USB?
2) Can i use a normal USB cable or do i need to buy a special one?
3) As i have a computer, is there any need for me to buy a harddrive for the akai and store samples on there??or can i just store all my samples on my computer???

At the moment my setup is a MPC2500 , a soundcard. a 6 channel mixer...and i use Reason and Cubase.

Make sure u read that manual cause alot of peeps questions are right in there but um ne ways.

1.) The only way your "actual" beat can be sent over to your PC via USB is if you RESAMPLED it therefore allowing it to be an .wav file that your PC can play. Now u can send your beats(seq/song files) over to your PC but they wont be readable/playable(at least if it does play it will sound weird ass hell). So either RESAMPLE(will def need the 128mb expansion) or RECORD your beats over to your PC.

2.)A standard USB cable will work(eg the ones used on your printer, external cd burner, ect..)

3.) Thats totally up to you. You figure out which will benefit you.

Dude, do yourself a favor. Before you spend any money on other useless stuff... please buy yourself a hard drive and the 128mb memory. Search the forums for what brands and model #'s and all that jazz. All the info is here... you just gotta search. I have had my 2500 for a bit over a year now and you don't want to lose ant beats, samples or ant other info. Just invest in your 2500 and you'll be in good shape, believe me!

I have got the 128mb memory and im going to get the hitachi harddrive thats been recommended on the akai website.

Make sure it's a USB-A to USB-B connector cable.
