Post your views and questions about the Akai MPC2500

I've had my 2500 for like six months and have always tracked everything stereo. Today I decided I would try my drums mono but I don't get how to do it. Normally I'll assign pad 1 to out 1/2. If I want it mono I assign pad 1 to just out 1 right? When I do that it only comes out of my left speaker which makes sense cause I chose it to be mono, but then how do I get it to come out of the right speaker? I thought if I chose a mono out, R and L would both come through the channel. I feel really stupid asking this question but this is really pissing me off.

your cable should be leaving out 1 and go into in 1 of your sound card or whatever available input you have... it should not be going into a stereo input on your sound card cause the card is built to see it as L/R and not separate mono channels... if this is just not possible with your card, you can record it the way you are doing it... take that stereo file that only has data in the left field and import it into an adui editor, copy the left channel.... create a new mono audio file nd paste that into the new file... save as... and import into your daw...

kinda gay if you ask me though... you should prob try and invest in a unit that has multiples ins... will make your life a lot easier ... A LOT... easier

i'm using a delta 44

thats strange... so, your telling me that you are running a cable form output 1 into a 1/4" in on the delta... when you record, its recording in stereo and the sound is placed in the left channel?

the only thing i can think of is the program you are using needs to know to record a mono track - be it the daw or audio app. For example, in Peak, Sound Forge etc you choose to create a mono or stereo file to record to. And in Digital Performer i choose to create a stereo or mono track to record to. Once I choose the type of track I wanna record, all i do is assign that input from my RME to the track.

Does any of the above help? What software are you using to record your mpc?
