The way I save on my machine is I create a new folder (inside of a folder I name "Projects) and save entire memory...that's for every new project I create! I noticed that saving this way makes a copy of all of the samples in memory and saves them to this particular folder with the project file (basically duplicating, triplicating, etc. all of my drum sounds). The major problem with this is if I load a kit into memory and only use a couple of sounds, the project will make a copy of all of the samples in the kit and save them to the new folder. Now, storage space isn't an immediate problem as I maxed out the machine with an 80GB harddrive, but I am concerned.
I'm not sure if this is the best way to save your projects, but this is the only way that's worked for me thus far. When I first got machine, I would just save everthing to a general "Projects" folder and overwrite the samples that were already there...that didn't work out too good for me and lost some good material.
Note: I added the MPC2500 to my studio to use along with my Fantom and I'm feelin' it...it's just COMPLETELY different from the way the Fantom saves. The fantom stores the samples on a card and when you use them in a song, it only creates a reference to it...so there aren't any duplicates, triplicates, etc.
Holla if you have some different saving methods/techniques that may be better for me! Any response is appreciated. Thanks in advance!
