What up MPC'ers! I was wondering if anyone can help me or point me in the right direction. I need some pics and maybe explanation on how to change the pot under the Data wheel. I heard you have to solder the replacement part on . I know there was a thread in the MPC1000 forum with photos showing how to do stuff like this. I have ordered the new part from Akai. Thanks all.

Damn...what do you do to your machine that you have to replace the data wheel?

Stilo, I just purchased it from a friend, but the only thing wrong was the data wheel. It works great until you try to turn it to the right and it does repond if you turn it slow but if you turn it fast it works fine. I called Akai and they said this is common. So they are sending a "pot" that goes under the wheel and the tech said I will have to solder. Thanks for the pics

they're sending you a rotary encoder.
it's very easy to put in.
you'll see pretty much how to do it right away, just melt the original one out and then yank it out
then push in the new one
i did it with my 1000 rotary encoder without instructions and have been enjoyin it ever since

i swear, a child with a soldering iron can repair 90% of what is always wrong with an mpc.
