I am looking to buy a 2500 and with it there is the bonus of either CDRW or 40gig HD..
what option have people gone for?

GET THE CDR!
At some point, you'll want BOTH.
The cdr is more expensive, make them throw THAT in.
Later, you can get that HD for $20 bucks on Ebay.
You'll definitely use the HD all of the time.
It'll be cheaper to have them foot the bill for the CDR and YOU grab the HD on your own.

Definatly get the cd drive! It saves so much time if sampling from other cds and as the other guy said you can pick up a hd filthy cheap.

agreed. HD's are cheap.

if your using your MPC routed into your computer, does the cd-drive not become obsolete??

yeah, get the cdr and then get the hard drive on your own
is a lot cheaper, even though you can use a certain cdr that is also cheap and it works, i bought it for 35.00 dollars on ebay, i think its a teac, dont remember the model well right now
