2500 buttons

I noticed after about a year of use my down button is starting to get a bit shot. I notice i've been pushing harder lately to get it when the other directional buttons go with ease. Is it easy to replace one of those yourselffffffff or better to get service on the thing. peace

pop open the MPC and see if the encoder is a 5 mm tact switch. you can order 100 of them off ebay for 10 bucks and have enough to last you the rest of your life.

they're very easy to solder in, too.

how easy to solder in, id just have to take the other one out and melt this one on basically?

you remove whatever board it's on, then flip it over, put the hot point of the iron on either solder poitns of the tact switch, work it off, then stick the new one in and dab some hot solder on there. not a whole hell of a lot you can do to screw things up if you use an iron with a sharp point and the thin solder, not the more thick kind. all available at radioshack for under 20 bones.

I would first try to clean them with some cleaning alcohol.

yo, my down cursor is doin the same thing. i dont know shit about soldering. i might get it repaired since i still have a year on my gc performance guarantee.

yeah that'd work...but expect to be without your mpc for a couple weeks...bummer

yeah, that is true. i just wish my mpc wouldn't have these problems. it's really irritating.

its ok if you're on warrenty then the shop will have to get you a replacement.
