Screen Might be Fading

I turned my 2500 on this morning and everything was fine...just turned it on a few minutes ago and the contrast of the screen is lighter....i haven't even had it for a year...am i really gonna have to replace this already?

maybe you might have adjusted the contrast by accident

just hold down shift and turn the the data wheel to adjust it. If that doesn't help then sh*t your screen might be going out. I think jahrome had a prob w/ his screen awhile back..I know a few people have on this board...but I can't remember who...

Contrast seems to be related to temperature. Mine is extremely clear when first turned on in a cold room. But the background becomes darker and the lettering lighter as the display warms - judged by touching the back of the LCD panel.

Once I start adjusting contrast, I can never seem happy with it SO\o I don't touch it at all now.

holy shit i love you in a non sexual-gay related way....that was my problem...must have been holding down shift and the data wheel without knowing it....i was all pissed about it cause i did buy from an akai dealer so i think i would have been covered by the warranty, but if i did send it in to be fixed, it probably would have taken a couple of months.

I had a problem with my screen ahwile back but I am not sure whether it was hardware related, software related or both. My screen would go blank when trying to install OS upgrades. I sent it to Akai and it has been good ever since.

From experience with other MPCs, I turn my MPC off as soon as I am done using it. The LCD screens do not last forever and can cost as much as $150 or more to fix/replace. I wish they would make MPCs with screen savers which is too logical I guess.

Yeah.. It's a shame,but i had the same thing happened to me.. I'm sure I haven't touch anything,but once I switched that on and the screen been lighter.. I recon it's just a bug.. but not that bad actually,because a can set it up easy stright the way,by holding my shift a turning a data wheel..

but It still happens.. Im sure..

I currently use the free JJOS, I loaded back on the Akai OS and the contrast is fine the, when I re install the free JJOS the contrast goes dim again. Can't understand why it would all of a sudden decide to do this??

You may need to reinstall your OS to format this screen. IF screen is blank you may have to adjust the contrast of the screen. It Works with the JJ OS and Akai 1.24 -

When using the AKAI 1.24 - Setting will need to be adjusted at each startup (Shift + Data Wheel). Setting will remain until power off.

JJ OS1 - you just adjust screen contrast at startup.

JJ OS 2 - Upon initial installation, set the screen contrast angle, reinstall JJOS2 via the load screen. The settings should stay.

I think your absolutely right. JJ OS has more black on the screen because of the smaller font, and that shows up the poor contrast of the display. Akai OS has less black and better contrast.

i think you hold "stop" + data wheel to schange contrast on jj, not sure though...

I always turn the contrast all the way down when I'm away from the MPC for a few hours. Takes nothing but a second to do. I've never had a screen fade on me yet, but I did have to replace one on the 2000XL just got..it wasn't cheap!
