Alternative way to record & play sound from a keybord

Hi everybody,

Since MIDI is data information (not actual sound), is there anything that can "transfert the information into sound" ?
What I mean by that is some hardware (not a PC) between the MPC2500 and the MIDI Keyboard (obviously not a controller keyboard) that would make it possible ?

The reason for asking is that I am interested by the Casio CTK900: http://www.dv247.com/invt/28241/
It cost about £100 and has over 500 sounds , I reckon it's very good value for money!
But obviously it is useless if I can't get the sounds on the MPC.
I tried today, on the record mode, there is a signal whe the keys are pressed but no sound is being recorded...

If there is no alternative, then can I used a synthetizer ? (i.e: Micro Korg )
I am asking this because it seems that the difference between a midi keyboard and a synthesizer is that the latter sends actual audio signals, not MIDI.

Or am I better off using a sound module ?
are there any hardware sound module that can be used straight away with the MPC2500 without the need for a PC that you can recommend ?

What about electronic keyboards & digital keybords ?
Any recommendation ?

You are right, I have an MPC2500.
I know how to do direct recording, it quite easy actually but are you telling me that if I try again to connect the CTK900 and record the sounds out of it by direct recording it's going to work ?
Even though it is a MIDI keyboard ?

I already have a midi controller, as eveyrbody knows with the MPC2500 I can assign any sample to all the keys and it's cool, but in the long term (well I mean "now") all I need is a keyboard I can record sounds from on the MPC.

So do you know if direct recording would work as advised by Nicole ?
Nicole, does it work with your Emu PK-6 ?
Am i right to assume that "direct recording" sounds will work with synthesizers (i.e: Micro Korg, Emu PK-6), but not with Midi Keyboard (i.e: Casio CTK-900)

No, he just need to read his manual and use what he has.
He was given suggestions by mnh2410, but asked more questions before even trying them.
The 2500 does exactly what he is trying to do (was one of it's selling points) he just needs to read the manual or search about using the direct record function.
Pretty simple and straight forward to use.

I wrote that I know the direct recording option, all I asked is if it would work with a midi keyboard (the Casio CTK-900) because Nicole has a synth and you should know what is always said about MIDI (mdi is not sound but data blah blah blah...)

Anyway I am going to the store and try the direct recording and hope that I won't look like an idiot because it will be the 2nd time...

P.S: FYI, I read the manual but I am here to ask for some help, not to be clever so if you can't help me please save us some unecessary comments.

Come on, if you knew what Direct Recording does, and what MIDI is, you would'nt ask such questions.

You control your MIDI keyboard from the MPC. Then it will output sound. That sound you can either route through a mixer, or if you absolutely positively need to, you can also record it into the MPC. It's a sampler after all, right? You can use Direct Recording with pretty much everything you can plug into the Record Ins.
