MPC 2500 on sale

I just price matched my brand new MPC at GC. Apparently BHPhotoVideo has a sale on them for $1699. No Tax (unless you're in NY) and free shipping. Either way, wanted to pass the deal on to others...

Yeah www.musiciansfriend.com has them too on sale, the internet price is still like $2 grand - But the catalog it's marked to $1699, and I had a 10% off coupon - pretty sweet deals floating around now.

I got mine used for $1250 flat. Used in excellent condition.

Do they build them anymore at all? I think the 4000 is discontinued in the meantime.

Nope. But the introduction of the 5k will cause people who would have otherwise bought a 4k to opt for the new 5k mpc. Thus lowering the demand 4k, and the eventual price drop. I'm just hoping the 2500 value doesnt fall faster than the 4k (although it probably will )

i gotta be honest, i see the 2500 as the last of the not-toy akai products. it'll hold its value. it might go up and down once in a while but it will never be a junker. SAVE THE JOKES< IM FOR REAL

Nah, a line was drawn in akai's product history after the 4000. All models pre 1000 were based on akai's dedicated hardware samplers. The 1000 onwards is a new page in akai's book. Anyway the 5000 appears to be an over grown 2500 + synth, to me anyway.

I got mine for 1699 new online in 07
got a 120 gig hd for 60 on ebay
and got a free factory DVD rom by rebate from akai

Well, I'm all for a deal, but I bought a used 2500 on Ebay a while back and was less than happy. No more used gear for me that costs $1000 or more (especially if I can't try it out before I pay for it)...it's just not worth the headache and the potential downtime for me. If it works for you, cool...but I like the idea of being able to take my gear back to the store and having a warranty...I also want to support my local music stores, even if they are the Guitar Center...you need them sometimes.

I'm finally selling my mpc 2500 after giving it a go for a year and deciding that my workflow is much better in software.

For any potential buyers out there, I have taken great care of this unit, it's still under my Guitar Center performance guarantee (2yrs parts, 1.5 years labor), and it's loaded up pretty well (JJ OS included).
