Sequencing drums on 2500 externally..

Hi, im come a bit stuck with my 2500 and could do with some advice,

Im running Cubase sx 3 alongside my MPC2500. I want to sequence my
drum programs in the 2500 from cubase via midi, kind of using the MPC as you would battery.

Ive got it working so far by assigning the recieve channel in midi/sync menu & that allows me to externally sequence the program for the
selected track on the mpc only... problem is I want to sequence several
different mpc programs at once.

Is there a way to assign seperate incoming midi channels to individual programs?

After I read your post I tried this myself out of curiosity and didn't have any luck. Like you, I can't figure out how to send a specific channel to a given program. The manual doesn't seem to indicate that it's possible - they just mention that it receives midi on all channels by default and that you can set a specific channel. All the controls on the main menu just seem to direct outgoing midi.

I tried playing with the soft through hoping that I could fudge it some how, but no luck there either.

Anyone else?

So you're saying in one sequence you want to have more program being used, right? Will couldn't you just put different programs on each track in the mpc and then change the midi channel of that program? If your first track program is "Kicks program" on Track 1 midi channel 1A , then put the next program" claps" on track 2 Midi channel 1B. Would that work? Then of course you would need to make sure Cubase is set to send midi info to Midi channel 1B. You may find it easier in the long run to do all the sequencing in the mpc and record the audio track by track into Cubase. This is what I do with Reaper. You can send a MTC message to your mpc from Cubase to start the mpc when you press start in Cubase. Good luck!
