sample names too long?! Building Program outside of Mpc

#1 : I have a few kits on a disc and i've tried to put them on my mpc through the usb but some of there names are longer than the display allows. They all have a title like elec_snare_clap1 and then numbers 2, 3 etc. but when the names are longer only one of that series will show up when I go to load them. Is there anyway to correct this without having to rename each sample one at a time?

#2 : I threw a few folders of samples from my computer onto my memory card, is there any fast and efficient way to make a program with those without manually loading each one?
