has anyone removed their 2500 casing?

I was about to open up the 2500 to look around. and i started unscrewing stuff. first, i didn't understand how to take the ends off after i unscrewed it, they didn't seem like they wanted to budge. and then it seems like the top casing can't come off unless the hard drive was removed because i saw screws behind the harddrive area that the top casing was connected to. it's like they didn't want anyone inside

So...did you manage it or not?

I have. The end caps slide off. They have "clips" that lock into a notch on the sides.

no. i had to go to a class so as far as i got was "'i've taken a bunch of screws out so far but i don't see this making as much sense as the 1k does to take apart.. i'll ask the forum"

i guess i just wanna know if anyones taken theirs off and if i do indeed need to take out screws above the hard drive that are being blocked by it.

Why do you want to disassemble it?

I've taken most of the panels off except for the face plate and the bottom (ass plate).

My suggestion is to not fiddle around with taking apart your 2500 if you do not know exactly how things are supposed to detach. There's several places to look online about how to properly take everything apart. You're better off first watching the YouTube videos available regarding taking things apart before going off on your own and making mistakes that might cause you to do unnecessary damage.

So check out YouTube, I've seen a few videos about pad replacement where almost all the panels are taken off.

While we are on this topic, does anyone know what the deal is with the Q-Link sliders? I know you are supposed to pull them off but I want to make sure I can re-attach them so that it will be like the way it was and not have to deal with loose slider caps or botching a model cement/superglue job trying to re-attach them.

only thing you'd ever had to remove (beside the screws, and front panel) to get the case of is the cd/dvd-rom drive if you have it installed.

oh shtt. thats what i meant, not the hard drive, the cd-rom. the cd-rom is in the way of a couple screws. and i want to take it off to examine my pads and how everythings laid out. it's what i did when i had a 1k and its what i want to do now . and the q-links - you can just pull off the sliders. then push them back on when you're done. no harm. just pull them upwards. and i don't know why i didnt think to check you tube i've seen them take apart mp's before.
