Compability MPC 2500 with Harddisks 2,5"

Hi,

has anybody experience with 2,5" harddisk in the mpc 2500?

Which type and which vendors did you install?

Answers with experience would be nice...

Hi

I have a old 20GB IBM Deskstar iin the Maschine.
She works fine, but is very loud when loading Samples.
After loading Samples in JJ OS1, she is going in Stand by Mode.

In the orig. Akai OS she runs continuously

Its ok for me

i build my old ibm thinkpad 20 gig hd in my mpc and it works great!!

Hey Guys,

here is the statement from the AKAI Support:

For the hard drive,
any ATA or IDE 2.5" drive can be used, as large as needed.
It is important to note for drives that are larger than 128 gb, the drive will need to be
formatted first in a computer as FAT 32 as the MPC is not able to partition
all of the drive space.

Example: A 200gb drive formatted in the MPC will show only 128gb of free space.
If formatted in a computer using as FAT 32, usually using the 3rd party software that comes with the drive,
then all of the drive space can be used in the MPC.

Wow, it's very interesting info,

Does it mean that you can fit even 200 Gb into MP, format it before with PC and it will be working fine ??

I am very curious, I know it' just a matter of time when my HD will be full...........

Hey Guys,

I just tried a Samsung 2,5" with 160GB the type is "Samsung SpinPoint M5P 160GB (HM160HC)" I payed 43€ for it. So it is very cheap...

It works fine in my MPC2500.

The only thing is you have to format the Harddisk before you put it in with FAT32. Mostly done with Qparted or Partition Magic 8.
I think all other partitioning programs can do this also.

So you can choose every 2,5" Harddisk you want and format it with FAT32 and it will work fine.
