MPC2500 -

I have tracks/parts which are long samples i.e. 8 bars long.

In the sequence there is simply 1 event at 1/1/000 and then this LONG sample plays back for the full 8 bars.

If I use the track mute mode I can MUTE this sample anywhere within the playback in real time. HOWEVER - if I try to record or insert mute events to get the same result (included as part of the sequence) it doesn't work on playback. A realtime (level) event works but it actually changes the level in the mixer section which is BAD.....

I just want to be able to mute and un-mute a sample while its playing by using a sequence event. I thought that a mute group thing might be a really cool way to do this to multiple tracks at once - can't make this work either.

It would seem that this is a standard thing to do because its such a typical dance i.e. house turn-around for an 8 bar phrase to have a couple layers go mute or solo for the 8th bar and then full mix back at 1.....

Thanks so much - I did search.

It looks like 30 people have read this so far an no one has the answer so - since I FINALLY figured it out, I thought I'd share:

Hopefully you have an unused pad in your program i.e. D16 - make a little silent sample and put it on this pad, then assign it in mute groups to mute the pads you wanna stop playing - limit of 4, but you can make another if you need more. Then just record a hit with this pad when you want the others to mute. voila! - automated multi mute as a sequence event.

The limitation is that even if THIS track is muted it still mutes the other pads - I think if you wanted to get 'fancy' you could assign another unused pad to make this 'master mute button' track change to a different/no program - doing this manually in the MAIN screen works.

Hope someone can use this.
