Pad variation between models

If you have hands-on experience with 2 or more models, could you reply with a comparison of their pads/sensors?

For example, the 500 has sensitronics sensors, and rectangle pads that have a gap between them and the sensors. You have to press the pad down for it to trigger, rather than just tap softly.

The 1000 new version has the same pads/sensors plus an extra row? Is there a gap? Are the 2500 and 5000 pads/sensors the same? Can you notice a definite difference in feel/sensitivity between them?

Trying to get to the bottom of this, there is conflicting info.

The new MPC 1000, 2500 and 5000 pads are essentially the same other than the fact that the 1k has shorter pads. There is a very small gap and the pads are stiffer than the older models. The older designs like the 4k, had issues with double triggering if you struck it at an angle or let your fingers kind of bounce. However, they were very sensitive if the sensors were not worn out and the pads were soft.

The JJ OS has sensitivity settings that allow you to adjust the note on threshold so you can get more sensitivity over the Akai OS.

Having owned and modified both--

The pads in the 500 and 1000 (new pad version) are identical in terms of functionality. They both have an unfortunate gap between the pads and the sensors that reduces response. The difference is that you can gain some response with JJ OS on the 1000.

The pads on the 2000XL, 2500, and 4000 all feel very similar to me... MUCH more accurate response, especially for lower velocity hits. That said, I haven't owned or taken apart any of these models.

<NOTE: An MPC1000 with the "silicone implants" mod and JJ OS2 has similar (or better) pad response to the 2000XL, etc. MPC500 with the silicone mod is about 80% there.>

Thanks. There's still some conflicts with what is reported here, but it's becoming clearer.
Current compilation
I found some video of pads being changed, but it was too hard to see if there was a gap in older models.

2k = 3k = 60. All the same rubber, similar if not equal sensors

1k = 2500 = 500 = 5000 Same except blue 1k.

4000 I don't know

One thing is I owned the older white 4k with black pads. When Numark took over they released the blue model after with the gray pads. I don't know if the newer 4k has the stiff pads and newer sensors.

All the Numark MPC's have a new pad sensor and stiffer pads. The early 1k had the flawed design but the pad upgrade and new 1k has the same basic sensor and pads like 2500, 500, 5000
