MPC 2500 vs MV-8800?? Help me pick, PLEASEZZ

What up. So I'm looking to buy the MV-8800 or the MPC 2500.. I already have a Fantom G8, I don't want to waste my money on extra features that A... I already have via Fantom.. or B will never use... Meaning I understand the nice features for the MV, but I will run everything into Pro Tools anyway,, so.. I just want the BEST DRUM SEQUENCER that i can get.... I'm leaning towards the MPC 2500 with the JJOS . The fantom has some great things about it,, but one I'm not to pleased with is the pads, ( the feel and control of the sounds) I haven't had a chance to play around on the MV yet,, but they seem the same.... SO I would be so GRATEFUL to anyone that can help.. Thanks.. Oh and P.S I don't need the snyth sounds from the MV, I already have the fantom... So were does that leave me?????

Well...I (Gulp) own an MV-8800. I will say if the question is truely and essentialy buying the best drum sequencer, I'd lean toward the MPC 2500. Akai drum machines have always seemed to get praise for their Timing and Resolution. You may hear some people cry about the MV is better because it has variable/adjustable resoultion and timing. More so than an MPC.

To some degree that's true but I'm guessing you want simplicity and don't want to get caught up in technical crap and scrolling thru tiiming templates. You wanna get down and record and have it play exactly as played! My 2000XL has never let me down. Had it for about 7 years now. The MV is an EXTREMELY versatile machine though, not taking away anything from it and I don't own a 2500 BUT, having been a "midi musician since 1989, the 2500 is the better of the two for YOUR stated needs IMHO. Now..go do you, playboy...

Man,, Thank both of you!!!! I played around on both today. Had to drive to two different Guitar Centers,, but i wasn't as impressed with the MV-8800 as I thought I would be,, when it came down to it the MPC2500 had my vote.... Much Love to all that gave and will give advise to me.. Peace...
