MPC5000 in the offing

Got the chance to acquire a 5000 ... do you think I should go for it ( I'd still like to get myself an MV also ) ?

do it if you're sure you can sell it for as much/more than you buy it for.

however, and you KNEW this was coming from me, there's really no sense buying that OR the mv unless you have maxed out your mpc1000 because there's little that needs to be done that a properly loaded mpc1000 can't do, esp with any computer combo!!

Actually, the guy that is selling owns a studio over in West London and he has offered me the unit for £850 ( around $1,400 ) or so. To be honest, I don't need it at all .... I just like the idea of it until I fully rationalised it's actual worth against my current needs and equipment already owned.
I tell you something, NI's 'Maschine' looks pretty tasty and at around £500 ( $875 US ) it's gonna be one to truly watch ?

I like the MV and I did long before I even got around to the MPC side of things, to be honest. But, as we've noted, my needs are really being met by the 1000 currently with it fully integrated into my software studio ...
Lets not forget, I was making all of my beats for the last six years on an Oberheim 88 Master Controller ( and I was doing pretty well with that alone ).

So, no, I think the 5000 would be overkill for me.

There's a flipside to this situation...

£850 is currently a very good price for the 5k, and there's always the chance that you will like it a lot more than the 1k. If you do you can sell the 1k and get around £500 so the current 'flagship' would have only cost £350! Alternatively you could sell the 5k on for around £900+ in which case you will make a bit on top.

Yeh, I thought all of that, Coz ... but just can't be bothered ( guess I don't need the money enough, eh ?!! ).

Got a call from him this morning advising that as he didn't hear from me, he sold it to some other guy in France for a grand !
