Hi. I just saw battle of those 2 machines and I'm curious how it stands with new OS which adds some features. I wouldn't want to hear about 128 tracks and other non important things. I would like to hear real differences - What can you do on MPC 5000 that you can't do on MPC 4000 and opposite? I found MPC 5000 might be quite interesting so I would want to take a deeper look.

5k has pad mute. this is a feature that's very important to me and none of my machines have it. neither does the 4k.

on the 4000, i don't know if you can combine the effects processors like on the 5k.

5k comes with the 8 outs standard, which a lot of second hand 4000s dont have.

5k has 100% more qlink controllers than the 4000.

I THINK the "chopping" on the 5000 os 2.0 is a little better than the 4000. I might be wrong.

If you don't own either the 4k or the 5k, then get the 5k. If you own a 4k, you really don't have a reason to upgrade.

5k is a "conservative" evolution of the 4000.

Kinda like from the asr-10 to the asr-x.
