Just got my 2500 last week so I'm barely getting into it but here's what I think about it so far compared to my old 2K's .
PRO'S : The Q links are a big help, the 128 ram is a HUGE help . I like choosing the modes from the pads (no more shift this & that and if your shift button goes you're fcked) . The screen is awesome . And the USB & built in card reader amongst the other upgrade options are dope . The input thru button is one of the things I always wanted most on a 2K as well as the direct record . Even though the pgm mode is a hassle I just barely got the 2500 so I'm sure all that extra stuff will become more of a blessing than an annoyance when I get used it . I also think they put a lot of thought into certain buttons being beat to sh!t being the only way to get something done so they implemented multiple ways to get a lot of tasks done .
CON'S : First off, this guy sounds a lot thinner than they did . The pgm mode is kind of a hassle and the mixer section is not as user friendly, i.e. I liked that the 8 outs was a whole different screen and that your sounds stayed in the stereo mix, here it's either or unless you wanna assign the sound to another pad to blend both and you have to pan hard R or L to get it to go to an even or odd output if your sample is mono . And while everyone usually hates on the EB16 it smoked the effects that come w/ the 2500 . And I can also see why so many people are having jog wheels break on the 2500 section, it's made pretty poorly .
This was probably already done when the 2500 came out but I just had to rant and for someone who used a 2K for about 12 years (and I know a lot of people on here rock 2K's) I thought this might be a little useful if you're thinking about switching over .
