Why does the 1000 come with more memory than the 2000xl? Idk which one to get now. only 2MB on the 2000xl and 16MB on the 1000? What are pros of getting the 2000xl over the 1000?

I mean i see people saying the 1k with jjOS is better than the 2k, etc. So like.....should i just get the 1000? why is it a 2000 if its not better? Is it better? I need some answers people please. Purchasing one or the other within the hour.

Sturdier build, full size pads, tilt screen, a slightly grittier sound than the 1000/2500. (Not as distinct as MPC 60/3000 though).

XL's are older and have zip and floppy drives, although you can add a CF card reader. The 1000 has more stock memory because it was released 5 or so years after the 2000XL.

Most XL's you find will have already been upgraded to the maximum 32MB, and the same goes for used 1000's. (128MB max) Even if you need to buy RAM for a 1000, compatible sticks can be found for $10 - $30.

Check out the MPC Comparison threads on this site, they have covered all your questions up, down, and sideways. :)

Here's a link if you just want to see the specs for each machine in one place

Like I said, read up on the comparison thread. It probably isn't best to take a direct recommendation from someone when you're still figuring out the different models available.

You are probably confusing the JJOSXL operating system with the XL designation of the older machine. The 1000 is newer, has more features and integrates better in a computer setup, because of the card reader and USB being built in.

If you do get a 1000, JJOS is definitely worth checking out. You can start on the free version, and then make a decision if want to pay for the JJOS2 or JJOS3XL features. (If you buy the JJOS3XL it gives access to OS2 also).

It's a learning curve and expensive to get into MPC's, so again, soak up as much as you can from the archives on this site. :)
