MPC-- The sequencer is top notch... I bang out beats like the MPC of old minus the need to nudge or line up my sounds on a constant basis like on the maschine.
MPC-- The metronome is not as obstrusive as it is on the Maschine and is volume adjustable.
Maschine-- The swing control has a broader range and adjusts in realtime at a much better rate.
Maschine-- any sound can go into keyboard mode and be played out on my korg through midi, usb or uno cable. I haven't seen that option on the Ren.
Maschine-- the low-end cutoff gives my samples with underlying bass a much harder sound.
MPC-- the built in audio interface is KILLING most standalone interfaces...
MPC-- To be able to go into track mode on the mpc and adjust volume levels is extremely helpful.
Maschine-- I use 3 computer monitors in my studio and I can expand the maschine screen across all 3 giving me a better workspace. The MPC screen is cannot do that.
MPC-- Solid built machine, looks good on my mpc stand.
Maschine--small and light and pretty portable. I went to the library with my headphones one day and just made beats...
MPC/Maschine-- great sounds, both can emulate older machines but I do feel the sp1200 mode is emulated better on the MPC than the machine.
MPC-- lets face it, I have 25 zip disks of beats that I made over the past decade and a half on my mpc 2000xl. Once they nail the loading of .all and .aps files correctly, I will have the leg up. right now it loads some of my files but for one reason or another, it crashes with some of my older files. The are close right now with what they did with the 1.3 version but they have to do a little bit better. Back in the day, I made my samples and did my drums and I simply saved, in all programs and all sounds. I partitioned my zip disks from A to F. It appears if you partitioned your zips, it doesn't load correctly nor does it read anything outside of Part A.
but once they do that... Its a wrap.
Both machines are great tools and being that I own both, I will keep both for sometime to come and I use the both, depending on what kind of project I am doing. R and B, I used the maschine. Hip Hop, the MPC. When I am in the lab, the mpc is impressive looking and works well... If I feel like sitting on the toilet and making a beat, My laptop and my maschine do the trick well.
