I appreciate the dialogue gave me more insight than what I needed.
The S950....I'm buying it. 12 Bit, down my alley. ntalec, the S6000 is staying.
Now, never got much info about robust Sequencing.
I think as will run with the latest model of the MPC2000XL. It will enable me to treat and manage my samples & programs on my Mac. Then dump them onto a 4GB CF II, and then load them up to my MPC with ease. I can then use 32 Channels (Midi) FROM THE 2KXL, and 32 Channels from the S6000, and 8 Channels from my SuperNova II.
This will be hooked up via an Emagic Unitor 8 MKII, (8 Midi I/O), USB to Mac.
I hoping that the Mpc 200XL sequencer is rock solid. If the 2KXL, WINDS MY UP, in regards to Creativity. I will sell and add some moe doe for the 4oe (4k that is)
any comments?
A few points.
If you were going to get a 4k then get rid of the 6k was my point.
Still not sure with the attraction to the 6k but if you think it's useful so be it.
As far as going from the computer to the 2kxl it's not as user friendly as you think.
One of the big advantage of the 4k is even when you don't use Ak-Sys it's still straight forward without dealing with that name restriction you will deal with on the XL.
You don't have to deal with the partition nonsense or storage space being wasted on the 4 like the XL.
You have more MIDI I/O on the 4k and the 4k is the only MP that can send the same track to multiple locations, comes in really handy for layering.
Still have to expect the non-spared screen on the XL to fail.
We have no concrete evidence on what cause it or how to prevent it.
If you are going to add the 950 plus keep your other gear the 4k is probably a better fit.
considering you want to go back and forth from the computer a 2500 is probably a better choice tha the XL if you don't want to go with the 4k.
