Gonna start saving for a larger MPC..

I have the 500, and its fun to have in my backpack. But chopping samples is extremely tedious and the filtering options are limited to say the least.

Been lookin at the 2500 and the 4000, and I was kinda gonna go with the 2500 until I just read a bunch of stuff about its filters being problematic. And since the price difference isnt huge should I go with the 4000 instead? I basicly want all in the box solution. Since I got the 500 I havent used computers at all and I'd like to keep it that way. The only thing I miss from the PC with Ableton is the extremely fast choppin possibility, the infinite filtering possibility and also the possibility to select between left and right channels in a stereo channel.

You won't loose with any of those two machines.

If you use the JJOS the 2500 is a beast. With both machines you can chop up your sample quite fast. You can also pick between the left and right channel with both mpc's.

When it comes down to filtering the 4000 has more options. People also say this might be one of the reasons why the 4000 is more of a perfect candidate for that all in one box solution.

Get the MPC-4000. You will be so happy, especially if you get one that is inexpensive. It's just a wonderful unit.

I think the 4000 is the better option.

I dont have any filter problems on the 2500. JJOS gives you even more possibilities. XLCD and it is completely nuts. I feel like I have a brand new box.

Try to get a 4000. Its the real deal and last of an evolution. I was planning to get one but they discontinued so fast for the 5000 that I never got around to it.

Yeah once size isn't a factor the 4k is a great move, and the current prices are great.

1k/2500+JJ are major wins too though.

2500 w/JJOS or 4000. Pick one. Can't lose.

tough choice...2500 with jj murders chopping samples in comparison to 4k...4k shines everywhere else

The difference is that the 4K has Left and Right faders. So when you sample you don't have to go hard Left or hard right... You can dictate how much of Left or Right channel that you want to sample.

4K you can also sample in 24 bit or 16 bit, and if you want more grit you can resample to a lower bit rate with excellent results.

You have ADAT and S/PDIF expansion that gives you 10 digital outs with a word clock to stablize it.

The tightness And full sounding drums is another plus.

JJOSXL workflow is amazing, but that's the only thing it has over the 4K....IMHO
