2kxl vs. 1k/2500 JJoS2XL

I've had a 1k w/ jjos2xl but sold it. I wanna get back into the MPC workflow, but was looking into a 2kxl also. Here's some things that are big for me:

1k/2500
NDC
midi capabilities - can the xl work with Logic?

2kxl
nice pads
8 outs
tilt screen
old feel

I'm mainly debating between a 1k and 2kxl, seeing as I could get either for around $300. I'm not really sure how different the xl workflow is than jjos, but if y'all can put me on game, I'd appreciate the knowledge.

Check 2500 out, the same JJOS is for that too + IO, tilt screen and nice pads like in 2kxl.

Prob actually get him element for $130/free shipping brand new to play on tho...

Dug through the comparison forums and it looks like the 1k is the way to go.

I was wondering Numark acquired Akai in 2004. The MPC 1000 was released in 2003 and I'm sure they began working on, or developing the 2500 at that time as well. So are the 2500/1000 the last of The Real Akai MPs.........and the 5000,Ren/Studio Numark's???? Hmmm

Wiki says Akai was already purchased by an American company in 1999, previous to Numark buying it in 2004.

Wiki also says MPC1000 and MPC2500 were released in 2005.

Wiki is wrong. I even looked at the MPC 1000 forum and it dates back to 2003. I'm pretty sure the 1000 and 2500 were the real Akai's brainchild. It makes sense too. The 1000 and 2000XL sounds EXACTLY alike. The 2500 has a similar sound, but a tad bit higher in pitch. Pretty sure that was Numark's idea. But the 95%-99% of the 2500 seems like the original AKAI.

What is the 'real'/'original' Akai?

The Akai that made the MPC60 and MPC3000?

Akai was already owned by a US company, it's assets were bought out by the American Akai distributors in 1999.

So what you think is the 'real'/'original' Akai, is not really.

When did the owners do the runner with the company money, was that in 1999, or in 2003?

Without inside info about when exactly the development of each MPC took place, and when exactly each buyout took place, there is no way of knowing what happened.

Plus the 2500 has 4 midi outs where the 2KXL and the 1000 only have two midi outs.

any day i would get a 1k instead of a 2kxl. i would even go with a 500 instead of 2kxl.

mute groups and jjos does it for me. the 2kxl can take up to 20 to 30 seoconds to load up a sample to chop, and in between each chop you have to wait 20 ish seconds too. **** that.

also, usb drag and drop is dope.

i actually sold my 2500 and kept my 1k because i like it better, a lot of people seem to like the 2500 more though, i am wayy more productive on the 1k though. i like that you can put it in your lap and make beats, its much less bulky than the 2500.
