Studio 440 VS mpc60?!:o

who will win!? i can't decide which to get rid of.

here's my options. right now i got mpc1000+studio440+mpc60

my mpc60 got a cracked side, sun washed out arm rest, and some sticker residue, so it's kinda ugly, also it's not got the scsi, but does gotz the 3.10.

the studio 440 is working 100% looks great, missing a sider cap that's it. has scsi naturally, and the latest os.

the mpc1000 is black, not the latest os, 2gb card 128mb ram.

I'm not feeling the mpc1000 AT ALL, i work so much on my beats, and just don't like the way it sounds, it pisses the **** out of me

i love working on the mpc60, and i love working on the studio 440.

the 440 sounds muchbetter than the 60, but the display is smaller, and the sequencer isn't as fluid(yet is fluid), the pads feel so nice. and it's got scsi, which is a definate plus, and a full sampling engine which really is great, cuz i do tekno mostly, so need something to **** with the sound more. but it's not nearly as stable

the mpc60 is sick, i do reallly love it, but i don't like having to use floppy disks.

I don't know what to do. Ithink on one hand i should keep the 60 cuz its not as resellable but the 440 is **** dope.

the 1000 is simply going, it pisses me off to no end. i never use it anymore. i'd rather use a **** computer.

oh yea i think my main plan now, is to work on beats, sample them and loop em in ableton n arrange with ableton with the mutes n plays n the non plays n all that. i think that's the most powerful arrangement, and this way i can save shit. but with the 60 i know thes equencer is good enough.

i don't know what to do lol. n i gotta figure it out. i need to make some beats for some people on my block to get some dollars. didnt realize how profitableh ip hop beats were...i walk with a drum machine through my neighberhood n people ask me for beats lol:-D

keep the 440 man, you dont know how lucky you are. You can find an mpc 60 on ebay or even a sp 1200 allmost anytime if your willing to dish out the cash, but the 440 is a real gem. I guess if your looking for money the 440 is worth close to twice that of an mpc 60, but not too many people have the privilege of owning a 440. Please give me your 440.

Buying gear and selling it every month or two isn't getting you anywhere.. and I've been telling you this for over a year now! Come on dude! If you cant make up your own mind by now, you should just sell everything and forget about making music. Seriously! I'm getting tired of hearing and reading about this.

Are you getting rid of them cause you need money? I'd keep one MPC & the 440. You have to get into your gear. The issues you mention seem a bit one dimensional. You knew the 60 was 12 bit and the 440 too. You know they use floppies. If its storage that is holding you back, get a SCSI option for the MPC.

Give me the 440 and buy an MPC3000 & your life will be simple...Yeah, it will be hard walking through your hood with a 3000 under your arm vs the 1k, but you'll earn some serious street cred!

its true...heh... i walk with my mpc60 on my block n i get people "yo make me a beat"...

the 440 does have scsi which gives it the advantage. I might just keep that. just need to get my zip drive from storage, working on samples and not having the ability to save is a serious pain in the ass...not gunna leave it on for 4 weeks striaght :p

Just sell me the Studio 440 and go find number 5 there in NY.

Anyway, that was all me mocking the people on this board who bought a mpc 1000. Gear DOES matter. Though most mpcs pretty much run the same, some do have different qualities/sounds to them. Obiviously the 1000 is a piece of shit so go sell that to whatever sucker you can get to pay the most for it. If the 440 sounds best then use the 440, cause obviously you have problems with all the machines. "sounds best" is subjective so whatever sounds best to you.

Lets say you have a guiatr that costs $5000, and another guitar that costs $50. Now you can have the best guitarist in the world play both of them. What do you think is going to sound better? The $5000 guitar. The person behind the guitar hasn't changed, so the creative root of the music hasn't changed. However the quality of the sound has drastically changed, and you have to choose between whatever sounds better.

Same goes with a drum machine. If you made dr dre make a beat in an mpc then make a beat in reason, the creative expression would be just as good, but the beat on reason would sound like he made it in a toy factory and the mpc would sound good.

the fact is i make $ off of em. I've made A LOT of money on gear. i've probably made $500-1000 on every forati 've owned. i know how to find em DIRT cheap. i just know the gear game. O.o if i selll the 440 at a good price(good price meaning the buyer gets a good deal), i'll prolly make 500-600 dollars... but whaatever. i'm prolly selling them all. n goin all computer based. its A LOT better imho. i've really learned it well. been working iwth more people n it just sounds great. i wisih i could have 10000 pieceso f hardware, but i can't afford it, i'm **** poor.

Ryan - since you've been learning ableton, you may as well buy the mpd24, and use it alongside the oxygen8. simple and effective.
